New for 2023
This year's Nissan LEAF sees a few style upgrades with a modernized grille, front bumper, and exterior lights. The electric hatchback also sports a new set of wheels and a glowing Nissan logo to enhance the look for the newest model year. For simplicity, the 2023 lineup is streamlined, so you'll only have to choose from two model options.
Trim Level Options
You can get the 2023 Nissan LEAF as an S or SV Plus model. The main difference between the two available trim levels is the engine, but there is also a wide range of comfort and convenience features to look forward to on the higher trim level. Both the S and SV Plus trims will give you extremely comfortable black cloth seating, standard 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, and connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Heated seats, heated side mirrors, and semi-autonomous driving features are reserved for the SV Plus.
All-Electric Performance
There are two available powertrain options. The standard 147-horsepower motor with a 40.0-kilowatt battery will come in the base Nissan LEAF S. If you want a more powerful engine and longer range, you'll want to go with the LEAF SV Plus for 214-horsepower and a 62-kilowatt battery. Acceleration feels quicker than you might expect in both the standard and upgraded engines, and the base engine can get to 60 mph in just 7.4 seconds.
Range and Charging Times
The base model will provide about 149 miles of range on one charge. You'll need to plug in overnight to get to a full charge on a regular outlet in your home. Recharging at a public charging station will help you gain more range quickly, especially at Level III charging stations which can take you from zero percent to 100 percent charge in under one hour.
The upgraded battery on the LEAF SV Plus will provide significantly more range, up to 215 miles. The 62-kilowatt battery will take longer to charge than the base model, but you'll be able to go further in between charging. Charging a completely depleted battery on your LEAF SV Plus at home will take about 31 hours to charge fully. Upgrading to a Level II charger in your home or using public charging stations will help ensure you have all the range you need.
